The Act. Studio Artist In Residence program is committed to fostering a fine arts and humanities community space and resource to support local talent in Denver’s thriving creative scene.
By offering access to our local photographic studio, equipment, and other resources, we aim to shatter the glass ceiling for emerging artists and provide them with an inspired environment to discover and a platform to share their artistic style with a broader audience to encourage visibility.
This application is about exploring your artistry and conceptualizing your vision. It will only take 5 to 10 minutes. The deeper you detail these questions, the better it will help your audience better understand who you are and how we can support you during your potential residency.

What The Program Is
Our Artist In Residence Program provides one local creative with up to two days access to our studio to complete a project that is personal in nature. The selected artist has full access to our equipment, backdrops, props, and space. They will receive a spotlight on our social channels, newsletter, webpage and feature spread in a curated art book to document their creative process and expand their audience.
Act. i is our first editorial class, focused on the diving deep into identifying and visually defining conceptual execution.
Our signature resident program installs new classes semesterly.
how air. works
Artists must submit a detailed concept brief describing the vision, inspiration, and goals of the collection or project they wish to showcase during the residency.
The pitch should have a clear objective to complete using 20 workroom hours provided by Act. Studio.
Artists must have access to their own camera/recording equipment or crew.
Artists must provide permission and license of use for Act. Studio to share the finished project. Artists retain full ownership of the work.
The project must be personal in nature and not made for a client.
Artists must be based in Colorado and over the age of 18.
Who should apply?
Anyone with a focus on editorial, including, but not limited to, designers, directors, consultants, editors, forecasters, and seamstresses based in Colorado. We accept resident pitches from ages 18+
What kind of themes are accepted?
All concepts, notes, themes, motifs are welcome as long as they are personal, intentional and meaningful in nature. It could be a visual series, short film, capsule collection shoot, podcast, installations, styling exploration, workshops, gatherings, campaigns, or whatever—as long as it can be created during your residency at Act. Studio.

Take full advantage and split your editorial hours across your full month of residency or use them in two full day blocks at our studio in Denver Tech Center to work on your project.

A spotlight on our social channels, newsletter, and webpage, year end AIR Act. i art book to share the finished product.
